Q) Will I be
able to play copied or downloaded discs after the
upgrade ?
A) Our upgrade will not alter your
players ability (or inability) to play copied or downloaded
discs.
Q) I can already play Region 1 DVDs
but the picture is distorted or black and white, will your
upgrade correct this ?
A) No it won't , your player is already multi-region, see
the last question on this page for help.
Q) I bought my player or recorder from
outside Europe, will the upgrade work ?
A) If you unit is not Sony or Panasonic please email us to
check compatibility sales@dvdchips.co.uk
otherwise please read below.
Our Sony upgrade remote works on UK , European and
Australian units ( Region 2 + 4 PAL ) ONLY.
Our Panasonic upgrade remote works on units from all
regions but if your unit is NTSC it may still be unable to
play PAL DVDs after the upgrade.
eg : If you upgrade a Region 1 NTSC ( North American ) unit
you will be able to play Region 4 NTSC ( South American ) DVDs
on it but may not be able to play Region 4 PAL ( Australian )
DVDs.
Some newer Region 1 Panasonic DVD players are PAL
compatible. If you want to test your player please download Region
Display and burn it to DVD-R using Nero.
If this disc plays on your unit then it is PAL compatible.
Q) I've
upgraded my Region 2 DVD player , Region 1 DVDs now play but
they are distorted or black and white , what is wrong ?
A) Your TV is PAL format and the Region 1 DVD is NTSC
format.
a) Check in your
TV's user manual to see if it can be set to display NTSC
correctly.
b) Check in your DVD player's user manual
to see if the player can be set to output NTSC discs as PAL, PAL50
or PAL60.
c) Connect the DVD
player using a SCART lead to the AV1 input on your TV, ensure
the DVD player is set to output RGB on the SCART socket (
consult your user manual ).
If you have a player
without a SCART socket , a TV that is not NTSC compatible and
a player that cannot output NTSC discs as PAL , PAL50 or PAL60
then you need to buy a new NTSC
compatible TV !
